M. Gilbert

Evelyn M. Gilbert, 85, of Dixon, Illinois, died Friday, July 17, 2009, in Rock Island Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rock Island, Illinois.
Private family services will be held. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, Illinois, is assisting the family with arrangements.
The former Evelyn Marie Welch was born August 2, 1923, in Kenton, Ohio, the daughter of James G. and Luema Mae (Brown) Welch. She married Lauren Gilbert on May 1, 1942. He died in 1998. She was activities director at Jack Mabley Development Center, Dixon, for several years. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Evelyn is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Paula Gilbert, of Dixon; a daughter, Laurelynn Gilbert of Aurora, Illinois; two grand children and their spouses, Angela and Warren Cannell and Timothy and Sommer Gilbert; five great-grandchildren; a brother, James Welch of Florida, and sisters, Iva Goodwin and Margaret Wood of Muncie, Indiana, and Doris Gordon of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her husband and eight siblings.
