Luverne N. Biorn, 91, of Moline, Illinois and Fort Meyers Beach, Florida, died Friday, September 16, 2005, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Moline.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Moline, with the Reverend Dr. Joel Bexell officiating. Visitation is from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, where Moline Lodge #1014, AF & AM, will conduct Masonic funeral services at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Entombment is in Moline Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Moline, where he was a member.
Luverne Norman Biorn was born April 29, 1914, in Laurel, Montana, the son of Aimer and Manda (Stageberg) Biorn. He married Jean Louise Geren on March 21, 1943, in Burlington, Iowa. He served as a training sergeant in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Biorn owned and operated Modern Heating and Sheet Metal in East Moline, Illinois, for 28 years, with his partner Jerome Soukup, retiring in 1982. Luverne was a member of Moline Lodge #1014, AF and AM, Thor Lodge at the Viking Club in Moline, and the Grand Cross of Color of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, and was a past member of the Elks, Moose, and Eagles Clubs in Moline. He and his wife wintered in Fort Meyers Beach, Florida, for many years and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jean; three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Bruce Chidester of Branson, Missouri, Lucia and Allen Bofinger of Lockport, Illinois, and Randi and John Danner of Minocqua, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Cindy Chidester and their children, Tyler and Kara, of Corinth, Texas, Kari and Matt Kunkle and their sons, Zach and Jake, of Round Lake Beach, Illinois, David and Jill Chidester of Flower Mound, Texas, Todd and Anna Bofinger of Nashua, New Hampshire, Troy and Erin Bofinger of Park Ridge, Illinois, and Stacey, Tricia, and Melissa Danner, all of Minocqua, Wisconsin; two sisters, RLee Flaaen of Zumbrota, Minnesota, and Audrey Anderson of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; and a special caregiver, Marsha Markin of Moline.
