Lupe E. Tapia, 90, of Moline, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline, with Father Antonio Dittmer officiating. Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, beginning with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. Private burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Born Lupe Epifania Masias on November 7, 1934, in Silvis, Illinois, she was the daughter of Agapito and Epifania Masias. Lupe was married twice, first to Jesse “Hawk” Ramirez, with whom she had three children, and later to Jose D. Tapia, with whom she had two children.
Lupe’s career included roles as a route manager for the Dispatch/Argus, as well as positions with John Deere and Servus Rubber/Norcross, where she worked for many years before retiring.
A devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lupe's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She inspired her family and those around her with her devotion and commitment to her church and faith.
A woman of great heart and energy, Lupe loved the outdoors and treasured time spent with her family. Her grandchildren were the pride of her life, and she enjoyed shopping to ensure she always had something special for them “just in case.” Her love, generosity, and devotion to her family will remain a lasting legacy.
She is survived by four children, Rose (Dennis) Scheper of Rock Island, Laura Mathena of Moline, Dolores (Scott) Scribner of Greenup, Illinois, and Bob (Dalia) Tapia of Moline; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Anna Contreras; granddaughter, Angelica Jauregui; grandson, Jason Ramirez; and siblings, Jesse, John and Peter Masias, Juanita Roldan, and Mercedes Molina.
