Harold R. Hoppe, 97, of Rock Island, Illinois, retired bank officer, died Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Maple Hill Cemetery, Gladbrook, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moline Amercan Legion Post #246, where he was a member.
Harold Rudolph Hoppe was born December 10, 1914, in Gladbrook, Iowa, the son of William F. and Anna (Rehder) Hoppe. He married Betty O?Connor on January 14, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was a Bank Officer for the former First National Bank in Moline for 30 years, retiring in 1979.
Harold was a member of Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline, and the Gladbrook Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed bowling, golf, and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard Hoppe of Seattle, Washington, and Mark W. and Jeanne Hoppe of Rockford, Illinois; granddaughters, Kara Hoppe of Los Angeles, California, Allison and Robert Headlee of Seattle, and Claire Hoppe of Chicago, Illinois; a great-grandson, Aden Thomas Headlee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the youngest of twelve children who all preceded him in death; Alvin, twins Adolph and Louise, Mary, Emma, Ella, William, Amelia, Henry, Edward, and Karl.
