Luana Friesth, 97, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Friday, May 17, 2024, in her home.

Services are 11am Saturday, June 22, 2024, in First Lutheran Church, Moline, with Rev. Dan Witkowski officiating. Cremation has taken place at Trimble Crematory under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the church or Rock Island County Animal Control.

Luana Lea Keim was born July 4, 1926, in Davenport, Nebraska, to Ray Charles and Edna (Lambert) Keim.  She graduated from Iowa State University, and married Richard Friesth on September 1, 1948, in New Windsor, Illinois.  Dick died June 30, 2002.  She was a registered dietician and worked at Lutheran Hospital and Oak Glen Home.  She was a Master Gardener and later worked at the Corn Crib in Coal Valley.  She served as Sexton of Coal Valley Cemetery for many years.  She was a member of the church and WELCA and Ruth Circle; Questers; and PEO Chapter BL. She was a past board member of Visiting Nurses and Homemakers Association, and a past member of the American Dietetic Association. She had been a 4-H Leader, Cub Scout Den Leader, and past president of PTA. She enjoyed needlework, reading, and spending time with her family.

Luana is survived by children, Lynn (Mary Lee) Friesth of Moline, Lon (Denise) Friesth of Urbandale, IA, Ann Cooper of Chelan, WA, Scott Friesth of Milan, Sue Friesth (Tom Ganoe) of Ontario, CA and daughter-in-law, Barb Friesth of Fishers, IN; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Charlene Korslund of Edina, MN.  She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Kurt Friesth; twin sons at birth; grandson, Brian Cooper; and siblings, Lynn Keim and Mary Jane Carl.
