Louis I. Resetich

Louis I. Resetich, 92, of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, July 10, 2016, in his residence.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. A funeral luncheon will take place immediately following burial, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. Visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to The Arc of the Quad Cities Area.

He was born January 18, 1924, in East Moline, Illinois, the son of Ignatius and Jennie (O'Korn) Resetich. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Edna M. Geiger on November 11, 1950, in Rock Island, Illinois. She died October 15, 1992. He married Verna Woolley in 1995.

Louie worked at Alcoa in Davenport for over 33 years, retiring as unit supervisor in 1982. He was a 70-year member and past-president of the Slovenian National Benefit Society, and the Alcoa Retirees Club. He enjoyed fishing and camping, belonging to the Holiday Rambler RV Club.

He is survived by his wife, Verna, and her family; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dwain Burkemper of Plainfield, Illinois, and Kathleen and Steve Mathias of Coal Valley; grandchildren, Sharon and Bryce Radke of North Aurora, Illinois, Andrew and Jennifer Burkemper of Wheaton, Illinois, Christopher and Lindsay Mathias of Moline, and Brian and Emily Mathias of Bloomington, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Grace Burkemper, Cora, Nate, and Lucas Mathias, and Molly and Kate Mathias; and a brother and sister-in-law, John and Marilyn Resetich of Silvis, Illinois, and their family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna, and a brother, Albert Resetich.
