Lonnie L. Hoke, Sr., 70, of Orion, Illinois, died Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport, Iowa.
A memorial gathering will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory prior to services with private burial at Fairmont Cemetery, Davenport.
Lonnie was born April 14, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of George Sr. and Reva (Davis) Hoke. He owned and operated Marine Engineering in Orion, working until the very end.
He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing, boating, camping, and drag racing.
Lonnie is survived by six children, Lonnie (Yvonne) Hoke Jr. of Lugoff, South Carolina, Ronnie Hoke of Moline, Michelle (Denny) Miller of Davenport, Joseph Hoke of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kristine (Jay) Castel of Davenport, and Jonnie (Stacey) Hoke of East Moline; 17 grandchildren, including Paige Hoke, with whom he had a special bond; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Frank (Carolyn) Hoke of Bettendorf, Patty Hoke of Davenport, and George (Sandra) Hoke Jr.; special friends, Randy Vorhies of Moline, and Jill Hoke of Moline; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Hulda Nelson.
