Lois L. Porter, 90, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, August 28, 2015, in UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is one hour before services.
The former Lois Louise Stoneking was born January 9, 1925, in Macomb, Illinois, to Amos E. and Ila Fern (Chenoweth) Stoneking. She married Garnet Guin Porter on July 20, 1942, in Phoenix City, Alabama. He died December 28, 1986. She worked for Devitt's Junior Boot Shop in Moline for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. She worked at the Rock Island Arsenal during WW II, and later was a proof reader for the Daily Dispatch. Her family was her whole life, and she loved to read, played the organ, and enjoyed traveling.
Lois is survived by three children and their spouses, Joyce and David Gilliland of Round Rock, Texas, Vicki and Tim Vogt of Milan, Illinois, and Craig and Jeanette Porter of Moline; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jill Hast, Michelle and Steve Petty, Cherie and Upal Husain, Robin and Randy Harvey, Alicia and Phillip Bird, and Andrew Porter; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Margaret Stoneking, and a nephew and his wife, Rick and Becky Stoneking, all of Davenport, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, Eldon Stoneking, and a niece, Cheryl Clapp.
