Linda Kay (Harris) Rieck, 78, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 31, 2024.
A gathering to celebrate Linda’s life will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Lady Di’s Park View Inn, 18109 270th Street, Eldridge, Iowa 52748. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Scott County (https://hssc.us/ways-to-give)
The former Linda Kay Harris was born on April 17, 1945 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and moved to the Quad Cities as a child. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1963 and went on to become a Nurse. Linda loved being a nurse, she started her career at Mercy Hospital and continued with Genesis Medical Center where she retired in 2016 after 48 years in healthcare. She touched so many lives with her compassion and generosity.
She was a proud Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved watching the games. She was an avid reader, even after losing her eyesight she would listen to audiobooks. She loved to crochet, she would make blankets for everyone! d traveling. She was a Girl Scout from 1953-1962 and an Adult Scout Member from 1974-1984.
Linda is survived by her three children, Kathy (Joe) Hayek, Cheri (Kevin) Duncan and Larry Rieck. Linda was a proud grandmother to Mitchell (Christina), Tyler (Ashley), Jenna, Cody, Nikko, Alex, Kaitlyn and great-grandmother to Carter, McKenna and Kynsley. She is also survived by a brother, Raymond (Monica) Harris and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wave and Gerdine (Linge) Harris; brother, Thomas Harris; sister-in-law, Carolyn Harris; and nephew, Scott Harris.
