Linda Rangel

November 22, 1948 — December 19, 2024

Coal Valley, Illinois

Linda M. Rangel, 76, of Coal Valley, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Association.

The former Linda Marie Wiley was born November 22, 1948, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Lee Maynard and Eileen Vivian (Kleinfall) Wiley. On September 10, 1977, she married her soulmate, Joseph Rangel, in Moline. They shared a beautiful life together until his passing on May 28, 2013.

Linda devoted her life to helping others through her work as a social worker and in various roles within the Quad Cities community. She made an impact through her service with organizations such as St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bettendorf, Lutheran Social Services, Catholic Social Services, The Arc of the Quad Cities Area, and Arrowhead Ranch.

A woman of many passions, Linda loved visiting the casino, immersing herself in books, experimenting in the kitchen, and exploring new places through travel. However, her greatest joy was her family, especially her treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who filled her life with boundless love and pride.

She is survived by four children, Darren (Kelly) Mlekush of Moline, Denise (Mark) Farrier of Moline, Doreen (Mark) Cooprider of Moline, and Diane Saldivar of Silvis; seven grandchildren, Magen Mlekush, Laykin Mlekush, Julia Mlekush, Kaitlyn (Jeremy) Buller, Zachary (Christine McNamara) Farrier, Alexa McCoy, and Jordon (Ray Walters) Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Ken (Mary) Wiley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Betty Green of Athens, Tennessee, and Diane (Doug) Berhenke of East Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; and two grandchildren, Justin Gengler and Ashley Gengler.
