Lewis D. Hakeman, 80, of Moline, Illinois, died, Friday, November 18, 2005, at his residence.
Family and friends are to meet at 10:00 a.m. Monday, at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, and will then proceed to Riverside Cemetery in Moline for a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to Trinity VNHA/Pathway Hospice.
Lewis Daniel Hakeman was born, April 5, 1925, in East Moline, Illinois, the son of George and Bizar (Severian) Hakeman. Lewis served in the United States Marine Corps, during World War II. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Ann. He then married the former Gwendolyn Cecilia Cissell on May 5, 1988, in Davenport, Iowa; she preceded him in death on August 12, 2003. Mr. Hakeman was employed as a supervisor at the John Deere Foundry in East Moline, retiring after 31 years. In his free time Lewis enjoyed golfing.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Tina and Carl Gerks of Yuma, Arizona, three step-sons, Robert and Debra Hoyt of Buffalo Prairie, Illinois, Tim and Mindy Hoyt of Rio, Illinois, and Doug Hoyt of North Henderson, Illinois, eleven grandchildren, Jeremy Stanbaugh, Kassondra Hoyt, Kallina Hoyt, Kendra Hoyt, Joseph Gerks, Kristi Gerks, Robert L. Hoyt, Justin Hoyt, Timmy Hoyt, Tiffany Hoyt, and Whitney Hoyt; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Hannah, and Sarah Stanbaugh, a sister, Rosie Grafton of Colona, Illinois, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Armenga, and Dorothy, and three brothers, Adam, William, and Albert.
