Lewis C. Parker, 82, of Silvis, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.
Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, 1550 7th Avenue, Silvis. A private funeral service will follow at 11:15 a.m. with Fr. Jason Bowden officiating. Burial will be Monday at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial fund to be established. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is assisting the family.
Lewis was born August 29, 1938, in Manchester, Iowa, to Donald Holmes and Eleanor Frances (Kenny) Parker. He served in the US Army. He married Nadia Musgrove and they were later divorced. He married Peggy Sexton Zeltner on February 14, 1975, in East Moline. He worked for John Deere as a supervisor and engineer for 23 years, retiring in 2000. He previously worked at McLaughlin Body Company. He belonged to St. Mark’s Anglican Church, East Moline American Legion, Quad City Bass Club and John Deere Harvester Bass Club. He was an avid bass fisherman and enjoyed golf.
Lew is survived by his wife, Peggy; five children and their spouses, Dyann Parker of Clinton, Iowa, Kyle Parker of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Michelle and Patrick Raley of East Moline, Richard and Chelsey Zeltner of Davenport, and Todd Parker of Silvis; four grandchildren, Ryan Parker, Kaitlyn Zeltner, Alexis Wilson and Drew West; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ena and Daniel Garner of Anamosa, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Donna Dorr, and brothers, Dennis and Lynn Parker.
