Lester M. Hillier, 88, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Saturday, April 10, 2021, at home

Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island, with Rev. Brian Bill officiating. The family will greet friends at a luncheon immediately following services at the church. Private burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church. Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, is entrusted with arrangements.

Lester Melvin Hillier was born March 18, 1933, in Rock Island, Illinois. He graduated from United Township High School in 1951 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy. He married Linda Lockwood on May 20, 1997, in Rock Island.

He owned and operated Arthur Murray Dance Studio in downtown Davenport, Iowa, for 54 years, retiring in 2013. He enjoyed dancing and teaching, taking pictures, and being a pilot. He always said that he would have been a fantastic singer if he could carry a tune.

Lester is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Steele (Corina), Lamont, Tara, Nichole (Gary), and Joe (Tiffany); and grandchildren, Jay and Jared, Tate (Emmalee), Emma and Chiara, and Ashlin and Cale; and many beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
