Leonard T. Dorothy, 73, of Moline, Illinois, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 2, 2017, in his home.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Moline, Preemption United Methodist Church, or Addus Green Club formerly In Touch.
Leonard was born January 23, 1944, in Mercer County, Illinois, to Leonard Todd and Violet Durney Dorothy. He married Marsha Vogler on November 16, 1963, in Moline. He was an electrician at Eagle Food Centers for 25 years, retiring in 2001. He was an elder and deacon for First Christian Church, Moline, and had previously been active in Preemption United Methodist Church. He was on the board of Disciples of Christ DUCK program, was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, loved helping his neighbors, and enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, motorcycling, dancing, and golfing.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Marsha; two children and spouses, Todd and Leah Dorothy of Corvallis, Oregon, and Tara and Steven Cutaia of Mount Prospect, Illinois; three grandchildren, Payton and Parker Dorothy and Sarah Cutaia, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard; his mother and step-father, Violet and Ralph Long; and sisters, Donna Zimmerman and Patricia Barnett.
