Leonard L. ?Red? Davis, 65, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Friday, April 28, 2006, in his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Tim Snart officiating. Burial is in National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal, where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice.
Leonard Lee Davis was born February 27, 1941, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Leotis Irvin and Delores Jones Davis. He married Adonna Rose Love on June 23, 1962, in Palmyra, Missouri. He served in the U. S. Navy. He was a truck driver and did local delivery for several trucking firms for many years, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed building and flying remote control airplanes, and played guitar for the Country Spectrum and Rock River Ramblers.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Adonna; three children and spouses, Kathie and Chuck Houston of New Boston, Illinois, Brenda and David Mitchell of Coal Valley, and Brian and Amber Davis of Atlanta, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Amber and Laura Houston, C. J., Paige, Samantha, Nick and Megan Mitchell, and Ally and Olivia Davis; siblings and spouses, Leslie and Jeanette Davis of Colona, Lester and Betty Davis of Philadelphia, Missouri, Lloyd and Doris Davis of San Antonio, Texas, Lois and Ken Melnick of Keokuk, and Lucy and Dave Starr of San Antonio; and his mother-in-law, Stella Cochran of Philadelphia, Missouri.
