Leona H. Saelens, 83, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of East Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

A memorial gathering will be 10:00 a.m. to noon on Monday, October 15, 2018, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory, Moline, with private burial at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to QC Paws.

The former Leona Ryckaert was born June 11, 1935, in Moline, the daughter of Raymond and LaJune (Vernon) Ryckaert. She married Frank Saelens on April 15, 1961, in East Moline. He died December 9, 2005.

She liked things very clean and took pride in her home being perfectly clean. She loved baking, especially Belgian cookies. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Leona.

Leona is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Tammy Saelens of Coal Valley, Illinois; a daughter, Dianna Saelens of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a grandson, Kevin (Leah) Saelens; and a grand-daughter, Kelsey (fiancé James Bertling) Saelens. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and husband.
