Moline, Illinois Leo F. Johnson, Sr., 81, of Moline, died Tuesday, October 23, 2001, in Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. The Reverend Scott Boerckel, Wildwood Baptist Church, East Moline, will officiate. Burial is in National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal, where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the WW II Veterans Memorial or American Cancer Society. Mr. Johnson was born January 12, 1920, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Fred C. and Minnie (Hogoboom) Johnson. He married Anna Sue Patterson and they were divorced. He then married Norma Pruett on July 7, 1952, in Las Vegas and she died February 4, 1967. He married Evelyn Hoobler Hannon on March 27, 1970, in Moline. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was a carpenter for over fifty years, starting with his father in Fred C. Johnson Construction in Keokuk. He then worked by himself and for various area contractors, including C. H. Langman and Son and C. Iber and Sons, until retiring in 1985. He had been a member of Moline Elks Lodge #556, Moline Moose Lodge, the former First United Methodist Church, Moline, and Carpenters Union Local #166. He enjoyed woodworking and bowling, was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and a Die Hard Chicago Cubs fan, and loved his dog, Sarah. Leo is survived by his wife, Evelyn; eight children and their spouses, Brenda and Don Mitts of Topeka, Kansas, Ronie Duncan of Davenport, Mike and Kathy Johnson of Port Byron, Illinois, Leo Jr. and Linda Johnson of East Moline, Gary and Debbie Johnson of Dekalb, Illinois, Christine and Mel Ivey of Silvis, Illinois, Leslee and Dan Collins of Bettendorf, and Deborah and Tom Waters of Coal Valley, Illinois; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Fischer and a brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Louise Johnson, all of Moline.
