Leo A. Maciolek, 73, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, March 23, 2012, in his home, surrounded by his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, with Father Donald L. Levitt officiating. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. A Prayer Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, followed by a time of sharing for family and friends. Burial is in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association, www.alz.org.
Leo Albert Maciolek was born September 17, 1938, in Fulda, Minnesota, the son of John Frank and Mary Marie (Hromatka) Maciolek. He married Marie Redecker on February 23, 1963, in Milan, Illinois.
Leo worked for Ringle Express in Coal Valley and Frederick Transport in Moline as an Executive Vice President, and then in sales for Warren Transport in Waterloo, Iowa, before retiring in 2003.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, and was a member and Past President of the Quad City Traffic and Transportation Club. He was an avid golfer and carpenter, and enjoyed reading, skeet shooting, and smoking cigars.
Leo is survived by his wife, Marie; a son, Jon (Angela) Maciolek of Orion; daughters, Rebecca (Jennifer Marin) Maciolek of Dallas, Texas, and Annette (John) Westmorland of Moline; grandchildren, Olivia (Jake Grilc), Alexa, Nicholas, and Sophia Maciolek, and Kaleb Westmorland; a great-grandson, Greyson John Grilc; and siblings, Agnes Morley, Stella Heimendinger, Mary Davy, Rosemary Schweigert, and Frank Maciolek, all of Minnesota. He was preceded in death by brothers, John and Leonard Maciolek, and a sister, Gladys Czepa.
