Lee A. Cope, 86, of East Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at home.
Visitation is 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Private burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Leon Ambrose Cope was born September 6, 1929, in Verdan, Oklahoma, the son of Horace and Ruby (Young) Cope. He served in the Merchant Marines at the age of 14, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Anna Welsch in 1950, in East Moline. She died October 9, 2011. He married Helen Bowers on January 31, 2012, in Rock Island, Illinois.
He held many jobs as a cement finisher in the Quad Cities and Rockford. He enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Lee is survived by his wife, Helen of East Moline; a son, Phillip Cope of Ortonville, Michigan; step-children, Ronald Finley of Gays Mills, Wisconsin; Gina and Mike Hayes of Fort Madison, Iowa, and Rusty and Teresa Hood of Colona, Illinois; grandchildren, Nicki, Christina, and Michael; great-grandchildren, Macey and Jenna; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin; a step-daughter, Tina Anderson; and a step-son, Randy Hood.
The family would like to give special thinks to VNA and Genesis Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Lee.
