Lawrence A. "Larry" Dhaemers, 94, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Wednesday, November 21, 2018, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral Home, 1700 1st Street, Coal Valley. Burial with military honors is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospitals.
Larry was born July 28, 1924, in Jasper, Minnesota, to Marcel and Augusta Dhaemers. He served in the U. S. Army in WW II and received several medals and awards. He married Cheryl Dowell on February 14, 1981, in Coal Valley. He described himself as a retired mechanic. His family describe him as a wonderful husband, father and family man who adored his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing the lottery, golf, bowling, and yardwork, and was glad to see his beloved Cubs win the World Series before he died.
Larry is survived by his wife, Cheryl; six children and spouses, Gary and Linda Dhaemers of Arizona, Linda Chandler and Mark Dhaemers, both of Las Vegas, Paul and Debra Randles and Tim Randles, all of Silvis, and April and Christopher Mielke of Orion; 12 grandchildren, including Kayla Grayburn, Hope and Jacob Randles, and Caiden and Elizabeth Mielke; and a great-grandchild, Peighton Grayburn. He was preceded in death by seven siblings.
