LaVetta J. Koresko, 83, of Silvis, Illinois, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, July 21, 2016, in Lighthouse of Silvis.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Moline, with The Reverend Dr. Mark E. Gehrke officiating. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church, American Lung Association, Habitat for Humanity, or Lutheran Social Services of Illinois.
The former LaVetta June Jensen was born June 2, 1933, in Sheffield, Illinois, to Russell and Janis (Richardson) Jensen. She graduated from Manlius High School, Manlius, Illinois, and married Richard Eugene Koresko on January 26, 1952, in Rock Island, Illinois. She had been employed in the Credit Department at Sears. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Moline, where she sang in the choir, and enjoyed volunteering, playing cards, and doing needlework.
LaVetta is survived by five children and their spouses, David Koresko of East Bend, North Carolina, Doreen and Robert Fritz of Lombard, Illinois, Dolores and Duane Brashears of Moline, Christine and Richard Dooley of Colona, Illinois, and John Koresko of Davenport, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, Ryan Koresko, Courtney Koresko, Chad Kastle, Kathryn Clot, Lee Fritz, Jonathan Fritz, Rachel MacCall, Erica Pinero, Jennifer Seabloom, Danielle Roberts, Andrew Cook, Nathan Dooley, Megan Nache, Kaycie Koresko, Riley Koresko, and Emma Koresko; 22 great-grandchildren; and siblings and spouses, H. Dean Jensen of Northville, Michigan, Stanley and Ethel Jensen of Prophetstown, Illinois, Marlin and Betty Jensen of Dixon, Illinois, Diane and David Behrens of Moline, and Clifford and Carolyn Jensen of Fort Worth, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Patricia Clary; a sister, Beth Lawson and a brother, Leon Jensen.
