Laurence J. Weinecke

Laurence Weinecke, 78, of Davenport, Iowa, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 4, 2022, in the emergency room at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial is in Oakdale Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or ACLU.

Laurence James Weinecke was born October 11, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a proud graduate of Southern Methodist University, and received his JD degree from the University of Illinois. He married Sydney Carlisle in 1968, and they were later divorced. He served in the US Army and then was an attorney and general counsel of Royal Neighbors of America retiring in 1997 after 26 years with the company. He also owned and operated Rock Island Records.

Larry was a member of the Illinois Bar Association and served on the Board of Directors of Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport. He was an avid record collector, especially rockabilly 45’s, and antiques. He enjoyed golf and sports, and was a die hard Chicago Cubs fan.

Larry is survived by two children, Matt Weinecke and his wife, Daphne, of Norwalk, Iowa, and Andrea Weinecke and her partner Todd Ashcraft of Elgin, Illinois; a brother, Michael Weinecke of St. Louis; a niece Stephanie Kramer; and a nephew, Andy Weinecke. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia Chenoweth.
