Laura May Rodgers 72, of East Moline, Illinois, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo, Illinois, due to complications of COVID-19.
Private burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.
Laura was born on August 19, 1948 to Tom and Lavonna Hogue. She grew up on farms with a special love for her rabbits, horses, dogs and cats. Always ready to take in a stray.
Laura graduated from Orion High School in 1966. She was in the nursing field for many years. Laura married Gary Rodgers, the love of her life, in January 1969. What a beautiful marriage they enjoyed until Gary’s passing in 2018.
Laura is survived by sisters Pam Kinnamon of Elmendorf, Texas, Wanda Evins Haessler, Davenport, IA, and Eva Franck, Davenport, IA and brothers Norman Peterson, Davenport, IA and John Downey Jr, Andover, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to express a special Thank You for the care and kindness Laura received at Hillcrest Nursing Home. And also the loving care she received by the nurses at Hammond Henry Hospital who never left her side as she passed. That gives her family great peace to know that she wasn’t alone at the end.
Laura loved teaching people about the Bible. That was her faithful passion. She, along with her husband Gary were one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 50 years.
