Larry Williams, 61, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Monday, December 7, 2020, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City.

Services are Noon Friday, December 18, 2020, at Word of Life Church, 1804 7th Ave., Rock Island. Those wishing to pay their respects to Larry are welcome to do so from 11:00 until the time of services. Masks and social distancing requirements will be enforced. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, following services. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline is entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Larry was born October 30, 1959, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the son of Lee Ethel Redfield. He married Tavita Smith on February 10, 2000, in Davenport. He worked as a supervisor at Swords Veneer & Lumber Co. in Rock Island for many years.

He enjoyed cooking, fishing, traveling, and listening to blues music. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Larry.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Tavita Williams; four children, Helene Hicks of Memphis, Tennessee, Shalla Williams of Moreno Valley, California, and Lawrence Gipson and Tomeka Gipson, both of Des Moines, Iowa; special sons, Otto Scott, Oscar Scott, and Mack Gipson; special daughters, Earlene Gipson, Natiale Payne and Marcella Payne; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Angela Williams, Ernest Hardy, and Catherine Redfield; a special father-in-law, James Smith; a special uncle, Carl Seals; a special aunt, Willie B. Bradley; two special friends, Jessie Hubert and Danny King; and many nieces, nephews and cousins that were dear to his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janice Redfield; a brother, Ronnie Redfield; grandsons, Faizon Horne and Johntrell Gipson; and a special aunt, Annie Louise Williams.
