Larry L. Skiles

Larry Skiles, 78, of Peoria, Illinois, formerly of Coal Valley Illinois, passed way August 13, 2019, at Sharon Elms in Peoria, with his wife, Donna Skiles, by his side.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Vietnam Veterans of America Quad Cities Chapter 299 will present military honors. Friends are invited to a luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, Moline, immediately following burial. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Disabled American Veterans.

Larry Lee Skiles was born March 29, 1941, in Schyler County, Illinois, the son of Allie and Marjorie (Trone) Skiles. He married Donna Pittenger on June 10, 1995, in Coal Valley. Larry served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He then worked for Aspen Distribution for 33 years.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Larry loved watching his grandchildren in their sports and activities.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Derrick (Theresa) Skiles of Geneseo, Illinois, Corrie (Roger) Drish of Fairfield, Iowa, Dallas (Ashley) Skiles of Silvis Illinois, Candace Pittenger of Davenport, Iowa, Tami Pittenger of Litchfield, Illinois, Scott (Estela) Pittenger of Garland, Texas, Kyle "Blue" Pittenger of Peoria, and Lance Pittenger of Princeton, Illinois; 20 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Rondell (Denise) Chenoweth of Paducah, Kentucky, Steve (Pam) Chenoweth of Colona, Illinois, and Ken Harder of Sioux City, Iowa; sisters, Helen Chenoweth of Silvis, Sandy (Darell) Park of Colona, and Nadine Zellers of Omaha, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
