Larry I. Widen, 79, of Moline, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, Illinois.
Services are 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Trimble Funeral Home, 1700 1st Street, Coal Valley, Illinois, with The Rev. Tim Snart officiating. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is two hours before the services. Memorials may be made to Doric Lodge #319, AF & AM, or Alzheimer's Association.
Larry Ivar Widen was born April 3, 1939, in Rock Island, Illinois, to Ivar McKinley and Mildred (Krapp) Widen. He married Mary Katherine Nightingale in 1958, in Coal Valley. She died January 16, 2008. He was a plumber with Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #25 for 34 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Doric Lodge, and enjoyed woodworking, NASCAR racing, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events and activities. He especially liked having donuts and coffee at Donut Delite and visiting with his many friends, both old and new.
Larry is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Jim Knox of Milan, Illinois, and Tracey and Chad Baker of Rock Island, Illinois; four grandchildren, Kiely Jones, Katharine Stauffacher, Ashley Stauffacher, and Braeden Baker; and four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Liberty Stauffacher and Robert and Olivia Wren.
