Steven L. Whipple, 62, of Milan, Illinois, died Saturday, December 19, 2009, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Neville Kretzmann, Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline, officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where Moline American Legion Post #246, will present military honors. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Steven Lee Whipple was born September 4, 1947, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Ira Lincoln and Helen Klockner Whipple. He married C. Ann Sloan Wonderlich on October 20, 1999, in Milan. She died December 31, 2008.
He was a Volvo Mechanic at the former Lundahl Motors, for several years, and was named one of the ten best Volvo Mechanics in the country. He retired in 1995 due to disability.
Steven is survived by a son, Eric S. Whipple; his mother, Helen Whipple of Fayetteville, Georgia; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Sue Whipple of Moline; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandy and Wayne Martens of Fayetteville, and Carol and Steve Keleman of Rock Falls, Illinois.
