Daniel L. DeRoo, 64, of Colona, Illinois, died unexpectedly Monday in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Colona Animal Shelter and sent to the family,
Daniel Lee DeRoo was born April 20, 1945, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Gerard and Emma (Poelvoorde) DeRoo. He married Janet Welch Armstrong on June 18, 1977, in Moline. He was a metallurgic technician at Deere and Company for 36 years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed golf, pool, pics, landscaping and carpentry, and loved family activities and animals, especially his dog, Hope.
Dan is survived by his wife, Janet; two children, Dan Armstrong and his wife Beverly of Hampton, Illinois, and Deanna DeRoo of East Moline, Illinois; four grandchildren, Faith and Nicholas Armstrong and Brandon and Jayce VanHerzeele; three great-grandchildren, Tavionna, Tanijah, and E?Mya; and Janet?s siblings to whom he was close, Virgil and Peggy Meyers, Gary and Bette Welch, Jim and Mary Jo Ivey, Mike and Vicki Welch, Robert ?Pat? Welch and Jill Reeder; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Daniel W. DeRoo, a sister, Arlene Streit, and a brother, Joseph DeRoo.
