Leslie L. Davis, 81, of Colona, Illinois, died Saturday, August 2, 2008, in Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley, Illinois.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Church of the Nazarene, Rock Island. Burial is in Colona Township Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline.
Leslie Leotis Davis was born February 13, 1927, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Leotis I. And Eleanor Delores (Jones) Davis. He married Jeanette Madelaine on March 15, 1956, in Palmyra, Missouri. He served in two tours in the U. S. Navy and one tour in the U.S. Army in WW II and Korea. He was a carpenter for various local contractors, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Rock Island, where he was a member of the Board and the choir, and the Carpenters Union. He loved his family, and enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, camping and golf.
Leslie is survived by his wife, Jeanette; seven children and their spouses, Robert and Ilse Davis of Colona, Delores and Charles Thieme of Sherrard, Debbie and Walter McClain of Keokuk, Iowa, James and Crissie Davis of Rock Island, Janice and Timothy Baugh of Matherville, Illinois, Julia and Darrell Tyler of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Thomas and Lisa Davis of Rock Island; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lola Brown, three brothers and two sisters.
