Robert L. Brenstrom, 80, of East Moline, Illinois, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, January 15, 2011, in Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christ Church Cathedral (Anglican), 1717 8th Avenue, Moline, with The Very Reverend Canon Edward A. den Blaauwen officiating. Burial is in Riverside Cenetery, Moline. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, 601 21st Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church
Robert LeRoy Brenstrom was born July 25, 1930, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of LeRoy and Dorothy Orth Brenstrom. He graduated from St. Ambrose University, Davenport, Iowa, and served in the U. S. Navy Reserves for 10 years. He married Mary Lou Dusslier in 1952 in Moline. He later married Elisabeth Bechtle Devine on September 6, 1990, in Bettendorf. He was a life insurance agent for almost 60 years. He owned and operated Good Life Insurance Services, Moline, for many years, and previously worked for New England Life and Aetna Insurance Companies.
He was a member of Christ Church Cathedral (Anglican), East Moline Rotary Club, Toastmasters, YMCA, Million Dollar Roundtable, and was a Charter Life Underwriter and Chartter Financial Consultant.
Bob is survived by his wife, Beth; children and their spouses, Paul Brenstrom of Thailand, Susan and Lewis Neff of Fort Worth, Texas, Joseph and Linda Brenstrom of Shrewsbury, Mass., Janet and Neil Randerson of Lisle, Ill., and Alicia Brenstrom-Smith of Dandridge, Tenn.; step children and their spouses, Michael and Mariana Devine of Springfield, Mass., and Sandra Devine of Davenport, Iowa; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.
