Mary Ann Rodems, 61, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, June 10, 2011, in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma.
Services are 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation is 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with a Christian Wake service at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy under the direction of the UAMS Foundation Fund, 4301 W. Markham St. #716, Little Rock, AR 72205.
The former Mary Ann Gasperovich was born June 1, 1950, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Anthony Leo and Agnes Marie (Lievens) Gasperovich. She attended Burlington Notre Dame High School before graduating from Alleman High School, and attended Black Hawk College. She married Wilfred Timothy (Tim) Rodems on December 10, 1977, in Rock Island, Illinois.
Mary Ann worked for John Deere Heath Care in Moline for ten years, retiring in November of 2006. Previously, she worked as a travel agent for ten years, for Jewel Osco for five years, and as a dental assistant for Dr. Hilfman for five years.
Mary Ann and Tim were huge fans of the Gray Wolf Band and made numerous friends through their many local concerts. She loved the music of Paul McCartney and The Beatles. She liked watching American Idol, Wheel of Fortune, and Fringe. She loved house plants and had a green thumb. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband of over 33 years, Tim, of Moline; daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Steve Koerner of Richmond, Kentucky, and Nicole and Dan Plaag of Peoria, Illinois; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Lindsay Rodems of Cary, Illinois; grandchildren, Kayla and Keara Koerner, Gwen Rodems, and Kellen and Tori Koerner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane and Eric Sandberg of Moline, and Carol and Michael Morris of Cape Coral, Florida; her mother-in-law, Lillian Rodems of Moline; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law, Bill Rodems.
