Edna Sebelien, 93, of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, in Trinity Rock Island.
Services are 2:00 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Tim Snart officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, is entrusted with arrangements.
The former Edna Mae Townsend was born February 18, 1918, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Olive Townsend. She graduated from West Liberty High School in 1936. She married Carl Turkal, and later married Rudy Sebelien on March 15, 1951, in Milan, Illinois. He died November 16, 1996.
She worked for Oak Glen Home in Coal Valley as activities director for 30 years. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder. She enjoyed playing euchre and reading.
Edna is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Edward Turkal of Fort North, Texas, Donald and Sharon Turkal of Davenport, Iowa, and John and Dawn Turkal of Rapids City, Illinois, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a sister, Jo Ann Wilson of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Rudy Sebelien, a brother, Bill, and sisters, Lois and Helen.
