Leo S. Saller, 94, of East Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011, in Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, Illinois.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, Colona, with Rev. Duane Jack officiating. Burial is in St. Mary?s Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, where a wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick?s Catholic Church or the East Moline Foundation.
Leo Sylvester Saller was born December 29, 1916, in Petoskey, Michigan, the son of Frank and Mary Hellburger Saller. He married Margaret King on June 29, 1940, in Moline. He served in the U. S. Army, and was the employed as a Station Operator at Illinois Gas and Electric Company for 43 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, Colona, Moose Lodge, Davenport, Iowa, and the Rock Island Conservation Club. He enjoyed yard work, shooting and target practice, and especially enjoyed taking care of his wife.
Leo is survived by his wife of 71 years, Margaret; two children and their spouses, Janice and Eddie Earnest of Moline, and Kenneth and Peggy Saller of Merritt Island, Florida; two grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Donovan Houser and Erica and Brian Williams; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan and Emily Houser and Reese Williams. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Leo Earnest.
