Kathyrne E. "Kay" Oldenburg, 91, of East Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Mark Gehrke officiating. Cremation will follow the services and entombment will be in Rock Island National Cemetery Columbarium. Visitation is one hour before the services.
The former Kathyrne Eunice Sneeringer was born November 1, 1922, in West Liberty, Iowa, to Hugh and Irene Buckley Sneeringer. She graduated from West Liberty High School in 1940, and attended AIC in Davenport, Iowa. She married Robert E. Oldenburg on March 28, 1943, in West Liberty. He died May 5, 2011. In earlier years, she was a bookkeeper in West Liberty, and later was a teacher's aid in Durant, Iowa. She loved to roller skate, and met her future husband while skating. She enjoyed music, sewing and making craft items for her friends and family.
Kay is survived by two children and their spouses, Peggy and Robert Zarndt of North Aurora, Illinois, and Randal and Ann Oldenburg of Moline; four grandchildren and spouses, Raquel and Tim Griffin, Traci and Daniel Marsengill, Shane Terhune, and Reece Oldenburg; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and sisters, Patricia Barkhurst and Erleine Kruse.
