Moline, Illinois Kathryn Marie Raby, 82, of Moline, died Friday, December 17, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Services celebrating her life are 10 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2004, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Roger Christianson officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, or a favorite charity. The former Kathryn Marie Brooks was born March 30, 1922, in Hancock County, Illinois, the daughter of Perry and Lula Mae (Moore) Brooks. She married Franklin Raby on February 27, 1942, in Rock Island. She was employed by King Korn Stamp Company for 10 years, retiring in 1968 as manager. Kathryn was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Moline, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She belonged to the Eastern Star, coached girls softball for six years, and volunteered for the Girl Scouts. She was an avid sports fan, especially basketball and the Chicago Bulls. Most recently, she enjoyed hearing about her grand-daughter, Kelly Raby's activities as a soccer player at Long Beach State. Kathryn is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Richard Harper, of Mooresville, North Carolina; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Denise Raby, of Mission Viejo, California; six grandchildren, Richard Harper Jr. and his wife Maurine, Shelley Harper, and Derek, Scott, Kelly, and Cory Raby; a sister and brother-in-law, Hebe and Phil Dadant; and a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jane Brooks, all of California. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and a brother. The family would like to especially thank Kathryn's nephew Phil Myers, and his wife Karen, along with Kathryn's good friends and caretakers, for their loving care and devotion during Kathryn's periods of illness.
