Kathryn L. Goldsmith

Kathryn L. Goldsmith, 92, formerly of Moline, Illinois, and Oblong, Illinois, died Thursday, November 14, 2013, at St. Anthony Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rock Island, Illinois.

Services are 3 p.m. Sunday, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with visitation one hour before the services. Graveside services and burial are 1 p.m. Monday at Oblong Township Cemetery, Oblong. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church, Moline, or Central United Methodist Church, Oblong.

The former Kathryn Louise Fark was born September 8, 1921, in Hoyleton, Illinois, the daughter of Martin and Hannah Struckmeyer Fark. She married John W. Goldsmith on April 25, 1942, in San Diego, California. He died February 22, 2001. She and her husband owned and operated Goldsmith Clothing Store in Oblong for 37 years. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Moline, various church groups, and Chapter BL of P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was a former member of Central United Methodist Church, Oblong, and had been active in Oblong community affairs. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed golfing and painting.

Kathryn is survived by two grandchildren and their spouses, Jon and Joella Koenig of Moline, and Kathryn and Michael Anderson of Wilmette, Illinois; four great-grandchildren, Joseph, John, and Justin Koenig, and Gwen Anderson, and her son-in-law, Philip Koenig of Moline. She was preceded in death by her husband John, and her daughter Karen Koenig.
