Kathleen Walters, 73, of Orion, Illinois, died Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, Illinois.
Cremation has taken place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley.
Kathleen Elaine Courtney was born October 30, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Willard and Lasca (McCracken) Courtney. She was the oldest of four children and the only girl. She graduated from Ft. Madison Senior High School in Ft. Madison, Iowa, in 1966. She earned a B.A. in sacred music in 1971.
She married Dennis Walters in 1973. Dennis was a pilot and airplane mechanic, graduating from Moody Missionary Aviation. In 1982, they served as missionaries to Pacific Missionary Aviation in Micronesia for 1 ½ years. In 1984, Kathleen competed in the Mrs. Iowa Pageant, receiving 3rd runner up.
An aviation job brought them to reside in Orion, Illinois. In 1988, their son, Micah Walters was born. Five years later, their daughter, Megan Walters was born. She loved her children dearly. Besides her family, she deeply loved her dogs.
Because of her faith in Christ, she used her musical abilities for the Lord at church. She was a composer and vocalist, performing music at church, etc. For over forty years, she gave piano lessons, loving every minute of it. She loved composing Christian music and serving the Lord.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Dennis; son and daughter, Micah and Megan Walters; and brother, David Courtney. She was preceded in death by her father, Willard Courtney; her mother and step-father, Laska and Donald Yerington; and brothers, William and Rick Courtney.
