The former Karen Jean Kane was born April 22, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa, to Charles and Ella (Batchelor) Kane. She married William Unger on March 23, 1957, in Rock Island. He died December 22, 2003. She married William McCabe on April 7, 2006, in Paradise Valley, Arizona.
Karen and Bill enjoyed cooking together and her famous bread was a special treat she kindly shared with others. She delighted in decorating her home, her garden, and herself. Her efforts were beautiful and admired. Karen's kindness, caring manner, laughter, a little sass and lots of class endeared her to many. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, and a highlight of her life was a trip to Dundee, Scotland to view the home where her mother was born.
Karen is survived by her husband, Bill; three children and their spouses, Pamela and Richard Anderson of Moline, Charles and Maria Unger of Carlisle, Illinois, and William Jr. and Mary Unger of Moline; two step-children, Lisa Jordan and Sean McCabe, both of Coal Valley; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
