Karen Spence Leatherman was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away after a short but courageous battle with cancer on July 28, 2021 at the age of 62.
Karen was born to Ralph and Carol Spence on October 23, 1958. She thought the world of her parents; her father would give her a piggyback ride to breakfast every Sunday morning. After high school, Karen met her husband Glen Leatherman and together they had two children, Leah and Travis.
Karen loved spending time with her grandkids, baking pumpkin pies for her family, and playing the piano for her church services growing up. She particularly loved the beach and was happiest with her family by her side, sitting in front of the ocean.
She is survived by her husband Glen Leatherman of New Windsor, IL, her children: Leah (Charlie) Ochoa of Moline, IL, Travis (Lindsey) Leatherman of Franklin, TN, her grandkids: Emma and Max Ochoa, her sister Kathy (Jeff) Spence Hargrave, brother Terry (Eva) Spence, uncle Jerry Gould, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life service immediately followed by a luncheon is scheduled for 2pm on August 2, 2021 at River City Church at 2305 7th Ave in Moline, Illinois.
