Karen Mitchell

Karen Mitchell, 74, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Monday, December 12, 2016, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley, with Fr. Jim DeBisschop celebrating. Burial will be in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours before the Mass at the church. Memorials may be made to the church. Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, is serving the family.

The former Karen Delores Peacock was born March 1, 1942, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Thomas and Florine Savage Peacock. She married Edgar Mitchell on December 2, 1961, in Davenport, Iowa. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, loved Christmas and being with her family, and enjoyed craft shows.

Karen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Edgar; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Peg Mitchell of Plainfield, Illinois, James and Laurie Mitchell of Coal Valley; and David and Brenda Mitchell of Orion, Illinois; a step-son and his wife, Tom and Julie Mitchell of Coal Valley; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Tom and Paul Peacock.
