June J. Farber, 98, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Sunday, October 2, 2016, at home, surrounded by family.

The former June Willis was born June 29, 1918, in Watertown, Illinois, the daughter of Everette and Violet (Dopler) Willis. While in grade school, she was the only girl on the boys' baseball team and was their best pitcher. She married Wayne F. Farber on August 22, 1938, in Muscatine, Iowa. He died October 30, 2006.
June had many accomplishments later in life. She took on painting in her 60's, had a hole-in-one in her 70's, and lived at home until the very end. She enjoyed music and dancing, and family was the most important thing in the world to her. She worked alongside her family building houses for 30 years.
June is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Kathy Farber, Mike and Vickie Farber, and Lee and Julie Farber, all of Coal Valley; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; and a sister, Fern Stropes.
The family would like to give thanks to Heartland Hospice, and her special caregivers, Ellen and Angie, for their wonderful care.
