June E. Matzen

June Matzen, 71, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Friday, March 24, 2017, in her home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley, with The Rev. Robert Hagen officiating. Burial is in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Memorials may be made to the church.

The former June Ellen Knowles was born June 3, 1945, in Geneseo, Illinois, the daughter of Everett and Verneil (Hamann) Knowles. She married Ronald Matzen on November 20, 1965, in Geneseo.

June is survived by her husband, Ron; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rodney Matzen of Coal Valley, and Kenneth and Heather Matzen of Orion; two grandchildren, Taylor and Jessica; a step-grandson, Jacob; siblings and their spouses, Marvel and Ron VanVooren of Geneseo, Karen Blackman, and Florien and Darrell Matzen, all of Coal Valley, and Dian Duncan of Geneseo; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Nancy West of Lynn Center. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Garneau and Dr. McCaw and their staffs, as well as everyone at UnityPoint Hospice and the Mayo Clinic that gave June such wonderful care.
