Aledo, Illinois Julia M. Carlson age 83 of Aledo, Illinois died Sunday, May 20, 2001 at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 24, 2001 at Aledo United Methodist Church with the Reverend John Crede officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Aledo United Methodist Church or to the American Diabetes Association. The former Julia Mary Smith was born on August 30, 1917 in Aledo, Illinois the daughter of William and Jesse (Foster) Smith. She married Wendell Carlson on June 27, 1936 in Galesburg, Illinois. Mrs. Carlson was a Member of Royal Neighbors of America, the Mercer County Auxiliary, the Mercer County Election Board, and was a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching TV, especially sports, and was an avid Cubs fan. Mrs. Carlsons survivors include; her husband, Wendell ''Smokie'' Carlson of Aledo; her daughters, Mary Kay Carlson of Aledo, and Janice and Bill Ruggles of Springfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Debbie and Craig McCreight of Aledo, Patty and Rodney Whittington of Springfield, Ohio, Bob and Marcia Carlson of Jacksonville, Florida, and Curt Carlson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; great-grandchildren, Blake McCreight of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Ashley McCreight of Aledo, Heidi and Bryce Whittington of Springfield, Ohio, and Susan and Jessica Carlson of Davenport, Iowa; three step-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Loretta Esp and June Thompson both of Aledo. Two sons, Bill and Dick Carlson; and eleven brothers and sisters preceded her in death. End of Obituary
