Julia Gulley, 62, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Thursday, January 9, 2014, at St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rock Island.
There will be no services. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family.
The former Julia Diane Barnes was born August 26, 1951, in Haleyville, Alabama, the daughter of Lee Roy and Ora Mae (McKay) Barnes. She married Earl Gulley on January 2, 1981, in Rock Island. He died October 14, 2007.
Judy worked at Servus Rubber and then Norcross Safety Products for 25 years, retiring in 2004.
She always loved the color purple. She enjoyed cooking, baking cakes, and doing puzzles. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Above all else, she cherished spending time and taking walks with her son, Ricky, who quit his job to take care of her when she became ill.
Judy is survived by a son, Ricky Gulley of Rock Island; step-sons, Earl Jr. (Tammy) Gulley, and Troy Gulley, of Auburndale, Florida; grandsons, Justin Gulley and Troy Gulley, Jr.; sisters, Lounell Cagle, and Ruth Tittle, of Brilliant, Alabama; and brothers, Wiley (Maxine) Barnes of Moline, Illinois, Eugene Barnes, and Sam (Shelby) Barnes, of Winfield, Alabama, and James (Paulette) Barnes of Coal Valley, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jesse Barnes, and sisters, Dorothy Elliot, Joyce Rose, and Betty Willett.
