Rock Island, Illinois Judith G. Rueckert, 72, formerly of Rock Island, died Tuesday, October 26, 2004, in Trinity Medical Center, Moline. Memorial services are 9 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church, Moline. Her family will greet friends in the church's Colonial Parlor following the service until 11 a.m. Her body will be cremated. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church or the Crescent Fund of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, P.O. Box 5987, Arlington TX 76005. The former Judith Ann Gill was born February 10, 1932, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Buford H. E. and Estella Shoptaugh Gill. She attended Moline schools and graduated from St. Katharine's in Davenport. She was a graduate of the University of Iowa where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She married Keith L. Rueckert on December 28, 1953, in Moline. He died September 13, 2000. Mr. Rueckert was employed by Rath Packing Company and the couple lived in various cities where Judy was active in many volunteer activities. She served in alumnae offices and district offices for Delta Delta Delta, and was named "Outstanding Woman of the Year" by the Quint City Panhellenic. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Moline, where she had served on the Church Council and the Deaconate Board. She was active in the Blackhawk Genealogical Society, St. Katherine's Alumni Association, Florence Liebbe Circle of Kings Daughters, Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club, and worked as a volunteer for the Quad City Open for 27 years. She served as a Republican Precinct Committeeman for over 30 years, as an election official in many capacities, and was a Trustee of South Rock Island Township. She enjoyed doing handiwork, playing Bridge, reading, and golf. Judy is survived by three children and their spouses, Margaret and David Slavish of Buena Vista, Colorado, David and Theresa Rueckert of Phoenix, Arizona, and Gail and David Franck of Sherrard; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sally Smith of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
