Joyce A. Berry

Joyce A. Berry, 80, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at home surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Services to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held at a later date with burial at Rock Island Memorial Park. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, 724 2nd Ave. W Milan, Illinois 61264.

The former Joyce Ann Prescott was born March 12, 1942, the daughter of Forrest and Dixie Mae Prescott. She was united in marriage to Michael M. Berry on November 4, 1959, in Rock Island. He died June 14, 2021.

She lovingly raised seven children, Richard Berry, Michele Pyrtle, Michael Berry Jr., Kim Hills, Cindy Smith, Jeff Berry, and Debbi Hajny.

Joyce loved bingo, finding a great bargain at the thrift stores, and she collected many things. She retired from John Deere, where she was a forklift operator and welder.

Joyce is survived by her son, Richard Berry of Colona; her daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Tim Pyrtle of Charlotte, North Carolina; son-in-law, Dave Hajny of East Moline; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a special aunt, Viv Wilker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; her children, Kim, Mikey, Cindy, Debbi and Jeff; her parents; and her Meemaw, Pearl Prescott.

The family would like to give special thanks to all the visiting nurses, Genesis Hospice, and special caregiver, Lisa Rossi, for the wonderful care given to Joyce.
