Josephine F. Matese

Josephine F. "Josie" Matese, age 89, of Moline, died Monday, February 10, 2003 at Riverpark Health Care Center in Rock Island, Illinois. A private funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline, with the Reverend Monsignor Dale Wellman officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, Illinois. Memorials may be given to the Mississippi Valley Alzheimer's Association. The former Josephine Fazio was born February 18, 1913 in Joliet, Illinois, the daughter of Antonio and Maria (Percararo) Fazio. She married Louis N. Matese on June 5, 1932 in Joliet; he preceded her in death on April 10, 1968. Mrs. Matese was a seamstress for Gibberman Brothers Clothiers, retiring in 1979. She also had been employed in alterations at Peterson. She enjoyed sewing and needlework. Survivors for Mrs. Matese include, her son, Joseph L. Matese of Moline; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Scaccia of Joliet, and Nina Wurbs of Milan, Illinois. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph A. Matese; daughter, Giovina Rogers; two sisters, and four brothers.
