Joseph C. Azer, MD, long time Quad City physician, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, in his residence.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with Fr. Christodoulos Margellos officiating. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Doctors Without Borders or Animal Aid Humane Society, Moline.
Joseph Charles Azer was born February 22, 1922, in Alexandria, Egypt. He was a 1949 graduate of the University of Alexandria, Faculty of Medicine (formerly known as Farouk I University). He was united in marriage to Edith Azer. He was a physician in private practice in East Moline for 50 years. More than anything in life, he loved being a doctor and was passionate about helping people.
Dr. Azer was a member of East Moline Rotary Club, which he served as president in 1978, was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, and a member of the Rock Island Medical Society. Illinois Medical Society, and American Medical Association,
Joseph is survived by his wife, Edith; his daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Shawn Kaye of Valley Village, California; a niece, Amal Azer of New Jersey; and nephews, Magdi Azer of Kuwait, Fakhry Azer of Galesburg, Illinois, Raed Azer of Nova Scotia, and Sameh Azer of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
