Jose A. "Tony" Salazar

Jose Antonio "Tony" Salazar, 66, of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island.

Services to celebrate Jose's life will be Monday, beginning with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. The celebration will continue with a hospitality gathering with food and beverages at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Tony's memory.

Tony was born June 2, 1952, in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Donato and Esther (DeLaCruz) Salazar. He married the love of his life, Michelle Vesel, on October 2, 1999, in Sterling. He worked for Laborers' Local 309 for many years.

He enjoyed boating and canoeing, Harley-Davidson, and "junking" at pawn shops and Goodwill. He can be described as a "rascal" and "jokester", and was always the life of the room.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle; his mother, Esther Salazar of Rock Falls, Illinois; children, Tony Salazar, Jr. of Davenport, Iowa, Chrisma (Fred) Turner of Dixon, Illinois, Jessica Schwarz of Vinemont, Alabama, Noemi Burns of Rockford, Illinois, Victoria (Joshua) Blanford of Moline, and Daniel Salazar of Hawaii; a step-son, Brian (Jennifer) Eshelman of East Moline, Illinois; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Lupe Salazar of Dixon, Connie Walljasper of Rock Falls, Ray (Maria) Salazar of San Antonio, Texas, Donato Salazar, Jr. and Christine Edmondson, both of Sterling, Joseph Salazar of Rock Falls, Mary (Rory) Keala of Hawaii, David Salazar and Rick Salazar, both of Boynton Beach, Florida, Manuel Salazar of Sterling, and Robert (Gina) Salazar of Dixon; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
