Jonas Dean Bystrom, 81, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, December 14, 2015, in Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Graveside services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Moline Memorial Park, with The Reverend Scott Carlson officiating. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is serving the family.
Jonas was born August 11, 1934, in Ashland, Wisconsin, to Jonas and Adina (Lundberg) Bystrom. He married Joan Lou Hall on August 12, 1954, in East Moline, Illinois. She died March 3, 2007. He was a power plant operator at the Rock Island Arsenal for 33 years, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed reading, riding his motorcycle, camping, and old fashioned gospel music.
He is survived by three children, Dean A. Bystrom and his partner Debra Staley, of Moline, Bruce E. Bystrom and his wife Ellen of Decatur, Michigan, and Linda C. Ruby; his adopted daughter, Jill Hall of Florida; eight grandchildren and spouses, Adam and Stephanie Bystrom, Toshawa Bystrom, Jennifer Bystrom, Matthew and Alyssa Marshall, Timothy and Erinn Swoveland, Tina and Joe Martzahn, John Staley, and Michael Staley; 11 great-grandchildren; his sister, Arlene Bystrom, and his sister-in-law, Buddy Bystrom, both of Ashland, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, six sisters and one brother.
